Although I enjoyed the fast pace environment and learned a great deal, I decided to expand my horizons and pursued my interest in real estate. In 2002 I launched my career in residential real estate as an investor purchasing properties and managing a portfolio of residential leases. In 2008 I earned my real estate license and in 2012 I attained my real estate broker's license. Over the years my experience and expertise has been a driving factor in creating enduring relationships with my clients. Because of this I have a thriving network of client and business referrals. Marks Chowning joins Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty this year pairing his extensive knowledge of the Galveston market with their world class real estate brokerage.


Drawn by the lure of the sea, Marks and his family relocated to Galveston in mid-2015 and now call the beautiful Texas gulf coast home. As a resident and professional in this coastal region, he is intimately familiar with the unique issues related to coastal living, specifically coastal insurance issues (flood, wind), differing building codes and construction requirements. Marks brings a wealth of experience in home renovation, commercial construction, and historic restoration, valuable knowledge given the amount of older homes and historic buildings on the island.

Marks started his career managing a variety of large public assembly, multi-use and commercial properties in markets across the United States. After 25 years of operating commercial properties, 2012 found him jumping into the world of residential real estate, launching his practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. As you can imagine, real estate, like everything else in Las Vegas, was dynamic and always moving, and he quickly became a top producer within his brokerage.


When Marks is not immersed in the world of real estate, he enjoys playing golf on the island's golf courses, nurturing vibrant tropical plants and relishing the freshest local seafood. Simple pleasures include exploring the island on his golf cart, sunset gatherings with friends and quiet time on his porch enjoying the breeze off the water.

As a native Houstonian, Tammi contributes her knowledge of well established Houston neighborhoods to the firm. She believes in the importance of educating her clients, buyers or sellers, regarding the market and what to expect in every phase of the transaction. Tammi specializes in areas such as West University, River Oaks, Memorial, Briargrove, Tanglewood, and Spring Valley while also working with clients throughout the greater Houston area including Katy, Clear Lake, Sugar Land and The Woodlands.

Prior to being a licensed real estate agent and broker, Tammi attended Louisiana State University and Southern Methodist University for her undergraduate degree. Tammi’s organizational skills and attention to detail were established while working at CB Richard Ellis in Commercial Properties. Consulting for companies such as Weatherford International, Crown Castle, and General Electric’s domestic and International Real Estate honed her incredible negotiation and communication skills. Her expertise is shown through her ability to work through any problem and achieve successful results for her clients and all parties involved.

In addition to her professional pursuit, Tammi remains very involved in the community and her church. A devoted mother of two, Christopher and Catherine, she enjoys traveling overseas while discovering unique hotels and cities.
